About the birth of little Ayva

Ayva was welcomed into this world Friday, September 26th at 3:09 pm. She weighed 6 lbs 14oz and 19.5 inches long.

A long awaited day that happened so fast and was soo amazing!

For those who don't know, I was due Sept. 27th. So she came just one day early but not soon enough! I am glad she was able to come on her own and enter into this world without any drugs or complications.

The night of the 25th, i started having contractions, but nothing too regular. Finallly decided to head to bed at like 12:30 or so. I woke up at 4, to go pee and was having contractions every 15 min, and for over an hour i kinda timed them and decided i better get up and start getting ready. I let my hubby sleep a while and called his parents to make sure we had a sitter. After packin up and eating, and droppin off Tyler, we left town about 8 am, and got to the Hospital at 9:30. Contractions every 9-20 min apart, so pretty irregular but nonstop.

First time i was monitored didn't have one for over 30 min..... i was like no way! So we walked around and of course, yup they were still there. We had to wait to get a room with a tub, so we jus walked around for an hour at a time. At lunch, we went to cafeteria and just after i finished eating my water broke! So we made it back to the room, and waited for our nurse to get back and for a room to come open. All while contractions were like 2-4 min apart. pretty intense all the sudden. About 1:30 we got our room, and after she checked me i got into the tub for about 35-45 min When suddenly i was like, i think i feel some pressure. After a few more contractions i decided to get out mostly cuz i was warm. planned on gettin back in......but barely made it to the bed and was like uh,,, get a nurse.. i have Alot of pressure. Soon thereafter doc came in to check me and said i can start pushing if i want. Think i pushed maybe 15 mintues and she was out. I pushed hard and as my hubby says, did the ape scream. I was so shocked to already be in the pushing stage and the pain progressed sooo fast i just wanted to hurry and get her out. Because i pushed so hard I tore twice, once badly almost all the way thru to the back.
I belive my iron levels were low and it caused me to hemmorage after and doc put me on a bit of pitocin to stop the hemmorage. Baby did wonderful, just swallowed alot of fluid ....about 16ml. So she had to be taken to nursery after a little bit to be watched for a couple hours. Just over an hour passed and she was brought to me and was fine and latched on right away!!
About an hour later I decided to make my first bathroom trip, without a nurse too. Bad idea. Matt was tending to Ayva, but walked me to the toilet and went back out to check on her and i set my head down on the bar to try to get undizzy. Well, next thing I knew there were about 6 ppl in there with me tryin to revive me and they had to use ammonia because i was soo out of it. That was NOT fun! I did'nt think i had actually passed out, till i asked matt and he said ya.. he had to yell for nurses. My lips were white and i was unresponsive. Exciting exciting!! So i was watched a bit closer rest of day, but was fine after and I am doing great now. My hemoglobin count was 8.7 supposed to be 10. So gotta take my iron...whoops
So basically, the day before i had her I was at 3cm. Got to hosp. and was at a 4, then 1 hr later a 5, then 1 hour a 7 then bam a 10 within 2 hours. I think everything went amazing and I am soo glad i choose to go all natural and i felt so much more aware and in control during and after the delivery.

Today Ayva is 3 days old. She is doing better than i could have ever imagined and eating great and sleeping great and is just happy all around! I couldn't have asked for a smoother labor and delivery and transition to home life. They let us go home 24 hours after she was born and since have gotten as much sleep as one could wish for at this point.

Tyler loves his new sister and so far is doing amazing with her. He just looks at her and smiles and likes to give her kisses and asks what she is doing. he is a great helper as well.

Welcome my little princess into this uncertain world. You will be loved by many and adored by all.
